ITV Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon says ‘I’m grateful’ as ‘life changed forever’

On the occasion of her daughter’s 14th birthday, Samia Longchambon has paid her a poignant tribute. On Thursday, October 19, as the teen turned 14, the ITV Coronation Street actor, who portrays Maria Connor in the drama, shared a tribute to Freya via her Instagram Story.

Samia captioned a picture of her daughter in the garden of their North West house with, “14 years ago today my life changed forever… and I am forever thankful to be your mum Frey, we love you,” and added the caption, “I am forever young to be your mother Frey, we love you.” Matt Smith, Samia’s former spouse and a developer, is the father of Freya.

The couple announced their separation in January 2011. Later that year, Samia confirmed she had changed back to her maiden name of Ghadie after their divorce was finalized on November 3, 2011.

Samia discovered love once more with Syvain Longchambon, a French professional ice skater, while she was a contestant on ITV’s Dancing on Ice. Despite not winning the series, the two continued to succeed in their personal relationships when the cameras stopped.

Samia, an actress who has played Maria Connor on the Cobbles since 2000, has previously discussed how she experiences “mum guilt” as she balances parenting and her job.

Speaking in 2019, the celebrity admitted that intense plotlines sometimes leave her with little free time to spend at home with her children.

She said, “I have been really struggling with mom guilt.” “I have been so busy on Coronation Street, so I’m getting up and leaving before my kids wake up and I’m getting in at bedtime,” Samia continued. It’s very challenging.
