Emmerdale favourite quits ITV soap after 25 years playing iconic character

After 25 years, legendary Emmerdale actress Samantha Giles has announced she will depart her role as Bernice Blackstock.

When Samantha appeared on Friday’s episode of This Morning, she disclosed that her farewell scenes would run later this year. The 52-year-old claimed that although the news had been confirmed, it had not yet been made public.

Ok! According to a magazine, her last scenes will air in mid-November. Regarding her escape plot and whether there would be room for her to go back to the Dales, Samantha stayed mum.

Since her debut in 1998, Samantha has left the show four times. Her forthcoming departure will mark the fourth. Before she left in 2002, she was able to win a TV Quick Award for Best Actress.

Samantha played Valerie Holden in Hollyoaks from 2008 to 2010, however she went back to Emmerdale in 2012.

Before leaving to write a book, she stayed for seven years, but she eventually came back. She joined the cast of Cinderella at the Alhambra Theatre in Bradford earlier this year, prompting rumors that she would be the next to depart.

I am so thrilled to be portraying the Wicked Stepmother in Cinderella at the Bradford Alhambra Theatre, the actress exclaimed.

“I’m really looking forward to working with Billy Pearce, the absolute King of Panto, and the Alhambra itself is such a beautiful theatre that I have long wished to work at.”
